Financial and Venture Capital Reporter
USA, reports to NY

We are adding to our reporting arsenal on paidContent.org, and looking to hire another New York City-based reporter with a flair for numbers to cover both private and public companies. The primary focus is deals in media industry across various sub-sectors and geographies. In addition, the reporter will cover public company earnings and SEC filings.


Qualifications: 

Of course, ease with numbers is key but must be matched with solid reporting skills and proficiency in current financial reporting techniques. 2-5 years experience with a financial or business publication and newswires. College degree preferred. The right candidate will be comfortable working on deadline in a breaking-news environment and will be an independent self-starter who can work virtually with a global team.



The candidate: 
  • For public companies, will help report on quarterly earnings, cover earning calls, keep track of SEC filings (primarily 10-Q, 10-K and S-1), and other key financials.
  • On the private company side, will track venture investments and crunch numbers based on publicly available information.
  • Will be reporting from various conferences related to M&A, venture capital, deals and digital media industry in general.
  • Will incorporate and add to our industry-leading coverage of deals and companies.
  • Will work on a mix of assigned and self-selected stories.
  • Will be comfortable with our tools (able to use a digital camera and recorder, take hand-held video, transmit files)

Digital Media Reporter

ContentNext Media, which covers the business of digital media as a wholly owned subsidiary of Guardian News & Media , is expanding its UK news operations. We are looking for a London-based journalist with solid reporting skills to work with our UK team to produce paidContent:UK, and with our international editorial staff across all four of our sites: paidContent.org, paidContent:UK; mocoNews.net, and contentSutra.com.


Qualifications: Solid reporting skills. Proficiency in current financial reporting techniques and/or knowledge of media and entertainment industries a plus, as is experience writing online. 2-5 years experience with a financial or business publication and newswires. University degree preferred. The right candidate will be comfortable working on deadline in a breaking-news environment and will be an independent self-starter who can work virtually with a global team.


The candidate: 
  • Will work with our UK editor, and other journalists based in UK/London.
  • Will cover funded start-ups and track venture capital and investment activity in our interest areas
  • Will cover public companies
  • Will work on a mix of assigned and self-selected stories
  • Will report from conferences and special events.
  • Will travel in the UK and occasionally abroad.
  • Will be comfortable with our tools (able to use a digital camera and recorder, take hand-held video, transmit files)
